Flamboyant Natural: Vertical + Width
Vertical + Width

The definition

Flamboyant Natural is a long line with width through the shoulders and upper back. The bones are broad and blunt rather than sharp, and the flesh reads soft. In the current ten-type system it is Vertical + Width.

Flamboyant Natural is not a judgment about size; it is a line that needs room. The tell is what happens at the shoulder: fabric is pushed outward before it falls. Tailoring that ignores that breadth will pull somewhere else.

What you may notice

These are the cues the identity is usually described with. They are not a checklist, and a single feature does not decide the type: the overall line does.

  • A long line with visible breadth across the shoulder and upper back.
  • Blunt bone edges: a square shoulder rather than a sharp one.
  • Straight or muscular limbs, often with large hands and feet.
  • A face with broad or prominent bones and taut cheeks.

Read them as a description of a silhouette, not a rating of a body. The same cues can appear in other identities, especially near a family boundary.

The line in clothes

The styling direction follows the line. It is a starting point for silhouettes, fabric and detail — not a list of rules about what you are allowed to wear.

Silhouette Long, wide and unconstructed: straight coats, wide-leg trousers, oversized knits, asymmetric layers.
Fabric Textured and natural — linen, wool, suede, chunky knit. Let it move.
Detail Bold, irregular or organic. Long scarves, a low belt, raw edges; avoid precise symmetry.
Friction point Tight waist emphasis, delicate jewellery, stiff tailoring and short chopped lines.

Flamboyant Natural or Soft Natural?

Both have width. Flamboyant Natural keeps a long vertical line; Soft Natural is curve-dominant, usually shorter in line and softer through the waist and hip.

Height and the current rule

Any height; vertical line first, width second. In the current method, 5 ft 6 in (168 cm) and above is treated as a vertical dominant line; below that, the visual answers decide. Height is one input, not a verdict.

Flamboyant Natural: questions

Is Flamboyant Natural a plus-size type?

No. Width is a bone-structure observation, not a weight category. Flamboyant Naturals appear at every size, and the identity does not change with weight.

Can a Flamboyant Natural have a waist?

Of course. The styling note is that the waist is not the organising point of the outfit; the long, broad line is. A belt can be worn, but it should not cut the line in half.

What does width mean in Kibbe?

Width is breadth through the shoulder and upper back that pushes fabric outward before it falls. It is not the same as being wide all over, and it is not a measurement of fat.
